Doris Lee (Johnson) PriceNovember 24, 1924 ~ March 17, 2017 (age 92)
Doris Lee Price, 92, of Bentonville, AR left this life on March 17, 2017 at Circle of Life Legacy Village. She was born November 24, 1924 in Newman Grove, NE to Anes C. Johnson and Martha Elkjer Johnson.
Doris Lee married Bob Price on October 14, 1944 in Geneseo, IL. After he was discharged from the Navy in January 1946 they moved their little family (Diane had been born in Geneseo) to Bob’s hometown of Pueblo, CO. Within a year they’d moved back to Geneseo then in 1948 to San Jose, CA where Bob’s mother had recently died. Three more children were born there: Norman, Karen, and Brian. After Diane was married they moved to Lakewood, Colorado where they lived for 17+ years until they retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1982. After 17+ years in Bella Vista and Bob’s health declining they moved to Osage Terrace in Bentonville at the end of 1999. She served on the CDC board for much of her time there. Bob passed away in 2011 but Osage Terrace continued to be “home” for Doris Lee for the rest of her life.
In San Jose she worked as a school principal’s secretary and also held that position in CO. She worked as a church secretary in both CO and AR. She was often involved in volunteer efforts and participated in P.T.A. and church activities and was always part of a church choir until the last 10 years of her life. She attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years in AR and was a Stephen Minister during her time at Community Church in Bella Vista. She loved to be with family and friends more than anything but was also enjoyed playing games and was an avid Bridge player until nearly the end of her life. She loved music, especially piano and choral, needlework, gardening, feeding birds, reading, and helping others. Her joy and contentment were sincere. At 92 she could still say that she loved her life.
Doris Lee was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, son Norm, and brother Don. She is survived by three children; Diane (John) McWilliams, Karen (Ron) Jones, and Brian Price, all of Bella Vista; nine grandchildren: Greg and Jeff Turner, Brielle Jones Ciucci, Brittney Jones Donnenwerth, Brystal Jones Hopkins, Brandon Jones, Autumn Price King, Chelsea Price and Clay Price. She also leaves eighteen great-grandchildren: Jessica and Erica Turner, Olive, Ione and Nigel King, Caden, Rafe and Corinne Donnenwerth, Titus, Tess, Trace, and Trent Hopkins, Ava Price, Mandolin and Ivy Price, Taylor and Mikayla Ciucci, and Lily Jones.
Doris Lee will be laid to rest beside her husband in the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansa
