Ernest William Lawrence, 76, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Circle of Life, Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born January 6, 1941 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Ernest William Lawrence and Alice Mae Fisher Lawrence.
A true patriot, Ernie proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 20 years from 1961 to 1981. He and Earlyne moved to Springfield MO in 1981 after he retired from active duty. His second career was with the Assemblies of God Headquarters where he worked for the long-running radio ministry, Revivaltime. Ernie also served as an editor for the Assemblies of God Men’s Ministries.
Taking the Great Commission literally, Ernie traveled to several Central American countries, as well as Mexico and Bulgaria with the Assemblies of God missions program, MAPS, building churches.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his faithful wife of 54 years, Earlyne Whitten Lawrence, a brother, Larry Kimmes of Idaho, a sister, Patricia Kimmes Groves of Idaho, a brother, Randy Kimmes of Idaho, a son, E William Lawrence III of Virginia, a daughter, Elizabeth Wendy Lawrence of Virginia and seven grandchildren.
Interment will be Friday, July 7, 11 AM, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO. There will be a Memorial Service at Battlefield Assembly of God, 5154 S Highway FF, Battlefield MO at 2 PM on Friday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ernie Lawrence Memorial Fund, Battlefield Assembly of God 5154 S HWY FF, Battlefield MO 65619.
