Tommie Maxine (Adams) Kerr

December 4, 1932 ~ December 15, 2018 (age 86)

Tommie “Maxine” Kerr, 86 and longtime resident of Batesville, Arkansas passed away on December 15, 2018, surrounded by her family. Maxine was born on December 4, 1932 to Albert and Othal Adams.

Maxine and her husband Bud, were owners of The Unique Antique Shop and co-owners of The Country Kitchen for many years.  Maxine worked at The Citizens Bank for 25 years as Assistant Vice President where she was well known to pull off many pranks on her co-workers.  Maxine truly enjoyed working on the bank floats for the parades.  She developed many friendships at the bank and loved her time there. She was involved in a multitude of civic and non-profit organizations. Her community was very important to her and she worked tirelessly to ensure that Batesville was a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

She was a member of The Central Avenue United Methodist Church in Batesville, where she held many committee titles over her years.

Her church was very important to her and she loved the lifelong friendships that she made at CAUMC.

Bud and Maxine enjoyed years of playing golf, tennis and driving miles and miles to search for antiques for their shop.  She was known for having one of the most beautiful lawns in the neighborhood and worked tirelessly to maintain it to perfection. Above all, Maxine loved being with her children and her grandchildren. Seldom did she miss a school, church or community program that the kids were involved in. Her pride for her children and grandchildren was often shared with others by the photobook she carried with her at all times. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Othal Adams.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Phillip “Bud” Kerr; her son, Tommy Lee Kerr of Maumelle, AR; her daughter, Melanie Ann Kerr of Bentonville, AR; three grandchildren, Phillip Andrew Kerr of Forest Hills, NY, Aaron Lee Kerr and Adam Phillip Kerr of Bentonville, AR and a sister, Kathie Sue Schulte and brother-in-law, Bob Schulte along with many dear friends and loving caregivers.
