Jimmy Lee Howell, 62, of Rogers, Arkansas died February 18, 2020 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born December 13, 1957 in Springdale, Arkansas to John Clifton Howell, Jr. and Bonnie Louise Howell.
Jim began working as a diesel mechanic at the age of 17, he then went to work for the Rogers School District for over 15 years.
Jim loved tinkering with cars and motorcycles. He could take a whole car apart and then reassemble it without writing down the instructions. He really enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle on scenic routes, watching survival shows, and to his kid’s dismay, he could watch the weather channel for hours. When his children were younger, they really looked forward to the last weekend of the month because they had “toy day”, where he took them to Toys’ R Us and let them pick whatever they wanted. When his granddaughter Trinity was about 3, she was asked what she was going to do with Papa that day, and she said “well, whatever I want of course!" He had a dry sense of humor and just loved to pick at people and get them riled up! If you ever needed your car fixed, he would do it, but not necessarily as a permanent fix. He would say “here, I rigged it up for you.” As a child, he would push a lawn mower around town and mow grass to get enough money to go skating, which he was really good at. As a young adult, Jim and his brothers decided it would be fun to hop a train to Lowell and then they had to walk all the way home!
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Adam James Howell; and one brother, Teddy Howell.
Jim is survived by six children; Jeremy Howell and wife, Christy of Alma, AR, Erin Atkinson and husband, Shannon of Exeter, MO, Daniel Howell and wife, Heather of Garfield, AR, Joshua Howell and wife, Amanda of Bella Vista, AR, Melanie Howell of Garfield, AR, and Zachary Howell and wife, Stephanie of Bella Vista, AR; four siblings; Johnny Howell and wife, Janice, Wanda Prater, Larry Howell and Carl Howell and wife, Sharon; nine grandchildren; Shanna Graves, Sarah Atkinson, Abbi Atkinson, Trinity Atkinson, Piercen Howell, Leah Atkinson, Raylan Howell, Whitney Howell, and Silas Howell; and two great-grandchildren; Ava Jenkins and Robert Graves.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Friday, February 21, 2020 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers with Brother Jeremy Howell and Doug Irwin officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am, until service time.
